30 room hotel in Victoria Street on hold

The plans for this hotel, which would seem to be already underway, have been put on hold due to concerns over parking and traffic issues.

How this was ever even allowed to make any headway in the first place is beyond me, there is no-where near enough parking on the land that this hotel is being built on and with parking in town such an issue it would only make things worse.

Let us hope the council can make sense of this or the locals will be the ones who will suffer in the long run

    As an update to this, in October 2008 the plans which have been turned down by the council have been put forward to the Government to rule on…. The fact that the site has NO parking for any vehicles and the plans are relying on every single customer arriving on foot, bike or public transport does seem particularly away with the fairies!
    We wait to see how the Government see this idea, but knowing how mad their decisions can be I can only hope on this occasion they see through the planners madness!
